1940s Pre WWⅡ Bareuther Bavaria Demitasse Rose Pattern Cup and Saucer
(Cup 2 3/4 inches across and 1 1/2 inches tall, Saucer 4 1/2 inches across)
Lovely tiny demitasse cup and saucer set from Bareuther in Bavaria, Germany. Pretty rose floral pattern with gold trim. Research indicates this particular mark places the manufacturing date to be between 1937-1945 – before the war destroyed the original factory.
In the year 1993 dimmed the lights inside the Bareuther porcelain factory located in Upper Palatinate Waldsassen. The company went bankrupt, which marked the end of the 130 years long porcelain manufacture story in this town. There were once 400 employees working there, the machines and ovens, furniture and documents, molds and raw materials are now covered with clouds of dust. The buildings abandoned to decay, the legacy sank into a long sleeping-beauty-slumber, from which only a few of them have been brought to life again by the hands of artists.
